On the 7th, the National Healthcare Security Administration and the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security announced the "National Basic Medical Insurance, Maternity Insurance, and Work Injury Insurance Drug Catalog (2025)" and the "Commercial Health Insurance Innovative Drug Catalog (2025)", which will be officially implemented nationwide from January 1, 2026.
The new version of the National Medical Insurance Drug Catalog has added 114 new drugs, including 50 Class 1 innovative drugs, and has removed 29 drugs that are not clinically available or can be better replaced by other drugs. After the adjustment, the total number of drugs in the list has increased to 3253, including 1857 western drugs and 1396 traditional Chinese patent medicines and simple preparations. The level of security in key areas such as cancer, chronic diseases, mental diseases, rare diseases, and children's drug use has been significantly improved.
The first edition of the commercial insurance innovative drug catalog includes a total of 19 drugs, forming a good complementary connection with basic medical insurance, and laying the foundation for promoting the differentiated development of commercial insurance and basic medical insurance, and establishing a multi-level medical security system.
