API, JIS, DIN, GOST、BS Ball Valves
The global landscape of ball valve standards is diverse, with each standard exhibiting differences in design specifications, connection dimensions, pressure ratings, materials, and testing requirements to meet the needs of various regions and applications.
API American Standard Ball Valves (API 6D/608): Identified by pressure classes (Class) and nominal pipe sizes (NPS), with flanges conforming to ASME B16.5. These standards impose extremely stringent requirements for design, fire safety, and sour service (NACE). They represent the globally dominant standards for the oil, gas, and long-distance pipeline sectors, signifying high reliability and safety.
JIS Japanese Standard Ball Valves (JIS B2071): Utilize pressure ratings denoted by "K" (e.g., 10K, 20K) and nominal diameters (JIS size).
DIN German Standard Ball Valves (DIN 3357): Employ DN (nominal diameter) and PN (pressure nominal) ratings, with flanges conforming to DIN series.
GOST Russian Standard Ball Valves (GOST 24856, 5761): Also use DN and PN ratings; however, their dimensions, materials, and testing methods form a unique system with poor interchangeability with Western standards.
BS British Standard Ball Valves (BS 5351, BS 6364): Historically based on imperial units, now largely harmonized with EN standards. BS 6364 is a globally recognized authoritative specification for low-temperature valves (including LNG applications).
API standards dominate severe service conditions, while EN/ISO standards are progressively integrating various European national standards. GOST standards remain mandatory within the CIS (Commonwealth of Independent States) market.
